99 courses, and enough fun to last a while
The Ovi store is trying hard to make a dent in the app world. While I love my 900, I find it just doesn’t have enough apps (reasons) for me to use it on a regular basis. That of course is compared to the iPhone, Droid, etc.
Mini Golf is a great little app with more than enough courses to keep you busy. How do you keep it exciting? Since it’s mini golf, why not ad whacky courses? It’s $4.99 and worth it in our opinion. If you’d like more info, check out the OVI Store, or Nokia’s Daily App.

Gameloft creates another killer title.
First off, this game is available for S60 5th Edition devices, namely: Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, but it should also work with the Nokia N97.
Killer graphics, awesome game play, and auto when you hit certain points so that you can always come back to where you were. Nokia has a decent review on their Ovi Daily App site here.
It costs $4.99 in the Ovi Store, and it can be purchased here.

Nokia’s earnings fell way short this quarter and there’s been a lot of chatter about the Nokia missteps in the US over the past several years. The good news is that things seem to be turning around and the outlook is vastly improving for us in the USA in terms of Nokia’s offerings. The bad news, is the out of the gate, the N900 is being slightly delayed. We’re looking at November now.
It’s possible that the pre-release versions of the N900 that Nokia gave out looking for feedback, perhaps provided enough feedback that the company needs to make some minor adjustments. That’s just conjecture at this point, but frankly I’d rather wait another month and get things right and having to pay to be a beta tester (if you know what I mean). I think it’s a smart move.

Out of beta, and into phone boxes.
Ovi Suite 2.0 lets users customize their experience where you can sync photos, video as well as share them. Of course you can edit calendars store files, download music and more. The Suite supports 142 different Nokia phone models and they now have the ability to inform you which models will work without you having to guess or scratch your head. Mac support not there…yet, but it’s coming.

Endorsed by Netflix, and not even on the iPhone yet…
Sure there are apps on the iTunes App Store that allow you to access your Netflix account and Queue, but none of them at this point are created and endorsed by Netflix. It tells me something then that Netfliz has chosen the Nokia platform via the OVI store to hit the smartphone market first. They have faith in this market.
To Quote the Nokia Blog:
Now that the first version of the Netflix app is available for free for both the Nokia N97 and Nokia 5800 Xpress Music. A version for S60 3.2 Edition devices (including the Nokia E72 and the Nokia E71x for AT&T) will be available shortly. The existing S60 5th Edition version will be enhanced with an optimized video experience over 3G networks, among other planned features.
...manage your DVD rental queue, search for movie information, get recommendations, and – perhaps the coolest part of the app (so far - additional enhancements are in the works) - stream movie trailers via either 3G or WiFi to your device using the Flash Lite player. The Nokia N97 version also features homescreen miniview functionality that provides a movie recommendation feed complete with box art and ratings.
Say it and it does it…almost.
Nokia runs a Nokia App of the day blog, and occasionally we’ll be linking over and pointing out their picks. Today is the first look at Vlingo.
Here’s a quote from My Daily App:
Now, let’s be clear, the free version of Vlingo in Ovi Store does everything described above, but you are limited to sending 5 text or e-mail messages. It’s enough to whet your whistle. And, my hunch is, once you get a taste for this app and the convenience factorit brings to your mobile device, you will burn through those 5 freebies in a hurry. At that point, Vlingo is hoping you will consider an upgrade to the Plus edition, which provides for unlimited text and e-mail via voice along with all of the other functionality of the free version of the app. The Plus edition costs either $4.99/month, or a one-time fee of $19.99. In my opinion, this would be money well spent.
