Mobile App Market to Grow to $17.5 Billion

Scott Gentry

According to study commissioned by GetJar

image

GetJar is an application store so there’s a benefit to their data being on the high end, however it’s likely the data was commissioned to determine the strength of their business model.  Regardless, we can’t argue with their findings.  With the wealth of smartphones on the market.  The competition between iPhone, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone, Nokia, Palm, etc, it seems like we are positioned in a nice place.

...and we’re looking for writers!  Get in on the ground floor!

Scott Gentry

Check out our new look, design, and functionality.

Apps4Phones is still currently in Beta, but we’re moving to a new content management system.  What does that mean to you?

* Better access to all of the articles you’re looking for.
* More areas added: Developer Network (find a developer or get hired!)
* More reviews
* Reader reviews and ratings

There’s a lot more coming and many of these things are still in the early stages.

Best,

Nokia Suing Apple of Intellectual Property

Scott Gentry

This relates to making devices compatible with one ore more wireless standards.

image

In a press release just this morning, Nokia announced that it has filed suit in U.S. Federal District Court in Deleware alleging multiple counts of infringement on every iPhone every shipped.

From the release:

“...relate to technologies fundamental to making devices which are compatible with one or more of the GSM, UMTS (3G WCDMA) and wireless LAN standards.”

“By refusing to agree appropriate terms for Nokia’s intellectual property, Apple is attempting to get a free ride on the back of Nokia’s innovation,” said Ilkka Rahnasto, vice president for Legal & Intellectual Property at Nokia.

In short, Nokia feels that Apple owes them some cash and hasn’t paid enough for the luxury of using this technology.  Should be interesting…

T-Mobile Temporarily Halts Sidekick

Scott Gentry

And I was going to purchase one today…yeah right!

On the heels of a ton of Sidekick users losing their data that was kept in the T-Mobile, Microsoft cloud, T-Mobile has decided to halt selling it until things are rectified.  With users learning that if they are missing their data, it’s likely gone for good, I can’t imagine anyone was planning on purchasing a new Sidekick any time soon anyway.

Will be interesting to see how they plan to fix this and begin selling it again.

Looking for Beta Testers For Reviews

Scott Gentry

Interested in earning money?

We are planning to launch reader reviews where readers can actually earn money for the traffic they ultimately drive to the site based on their app reviews.  We utilize Google Analytics to track the traffic and ultimately are paying a traffic commission.  Think of this as Yelp that pays.  That’s right, if you write one or a bunch of reviews that are popular, you’ll be earning cash.

We are looking for beta reviewers now to try out the system and provide feedback.  You can apply by simply sending an email to beta (at) apps4phones.com.  We are looking for reviews for iPhone apps, and Android Apps to start.  BlackBerry, Nokia, Palm and Windows Phone will follow.
