Ultimate Guitar Tabs Review for iPhone

Most of the app’s features require some sort of signal whether it is cell service or internet connection. You need a connection to search for tabs and view them. Due to this I recommend mainly using the app when you have a connection. However you can view your favorites and tab packs without a connection.
If you’ve never been to Ultimate-Guitar.com and you play guitar I highly recommend it. It is an awesome site that lets you look up your favorite songs or bands and gives you the tab/chord for your guitar or bass. If you go to the site and search your desired song many different tab choices will pop up. On the right side of the site it shows you the different parts of the song so you can learn them in order or just learn one part it’s completely up to you. It also allows you to search tabs on your level of guitar skill, you can find any from incredibly easy to insanely difficult.
The app includes many of the same features of the website, but it also allows you to search tabs where ever you are as long as you have cell service or Internet connection. However, it does not have bass tabs or at least at the moment, while the website does. I do recommend only getting this app if you have iPhone because if you have an iPod touch you can only use some features without internet connection and you might as well go on the computer. It’s a waste of money unless you keep a lot of songs in your favorites section then its not a total loss.
If you find a tab you like a lot, you can press the star at the top right of the screen and it will be added to you favorites section, where you can quickly view the tab the next time you’re ready to rock out. This is one of my favorite features mainly because you can view those tabs with or without cell or Internet service. The app also offers tab packs where you can view songs in a certain genre and difficulty this also does not require any service connection. Finally, it allows you to search your desired tab of course, but also allows you to search by; band name, song title, album, genre, and more if you click on the advanced search button. Advanced search along with the regular search requires some sort of connection.
The tabs you search are also in iPhone format. What does that mean? Well it makes the page easy to read so you don’t have to waste your precious time zooming in and out of the page. It will save you tons of time, keep you from getting frustrated, and maybe save you a trip to your optometrist. Another awesome feature is the auto scroll. You can program the auto scroll to scroll down the page at the speed you desire so you can play the entire tab at once. Without this you would have to have someone else scroll for you or not play the song all together, because everyone knows you can’t play guitar with one hand.
Ultimate Guitar Tabs has almost any tab you would want to search; from pop to heavy metal they’ve got it all. If you love guitar I highly recommend this app for your iPhone. Again the app does not offer tabs for bass at the moment, but the website does so it may in the future. So all you bass players this isn’t the app for you. Other than that this app is very useful on the go, so go to the app store and download the Ultimate Guitar app and get ready to rock!
