While Android 1.6 is barely rolling out, 2.0 is well on its way to completion.
Many Android users are just starting to receive their OTA for 1.6 but that is not stopping Google from working hard on the next version, 2.0. I left Google’s mobile OS right before version 1.5 came out but the OS has matured so much, I am having second thoughts of the switch to the iPhone. The Boy Genius Report has nabbed the first screen shots of Android 2.0, known as Eclair, before Google even announced it. Head over to The Boy Genius Report to see Eclair in all its glory.

Killer app for tracking your cardio workout, inside and outside.
I personally only downloaded Cardio Trainer last week, but already it’s moved to my home screen on my Hero. Why? It works, and works well.
So far this app is the best I’ve found on Android in that it allows me to exercise inside and out.
From AndroidWiki:
* Facebook integration
o You can share your track history, and it will appear in your profile.
o http://apps.facebook.com/cardiotrainer/
* Use GPS to show your real-time position on a map
* Shows your distance, time, avg/min/max speed, elevation gain, pace and calories.
* Has voice output that tells you your stats every X minutes or X miles/meters.
* Lets you configure the update rate of the GPS to save battery.
* Saves your routes in the history of your phone
* Lets you upload your tracks to the CardioTrainer website.
o http://www.worksmartlabs.com/cardiotrainer/
o Enter your access code which is shown in the Settings Screen on your phone.
o Share the tracks with your friends.
o Export the tracks in gpx or kml to use it with any other program.
* Race Against Yourself premium add-on allows you to race against your previous tracks, giving you audio feedback as you go.

Looks as though Flash is making it in 2010.
A lot has/had been made about Adobe bringing Flash to every mobile platform (except iPhone) over the past few weeks. Knowing how many computers, ads, video services, and more actually use Flash is astounding. What’s more astounding is that until now, Flash has been hard to come by on mobile devices.
While we had been expecting Adobe would release a beta version of Flash 10 for Android the Adobe Max Conference. It turns out that webOS was the beneficiary of that.

Android is starting to take off.
The editors of Stuff Magazine have decided to bestow upon the HTC Hero (European Version at least), Gadget of the Year 2009. That’s a pretty hefty nod in HTC’s and Google’s direction. Not that I’ll argue with the award, as I have the phone and love it. From the design of the case, to the HTC UI on top of Android, the phone rocks. Gadget of the year is a big comment. With all of the planned Android devices coming, it’ll be fun to see which one unseats the Hero.
Notes that sync online.
3Banana is a note app that syncs online to the 3Banana servers. One of the things that I like about it, is it’s ability to not only sync online so I can access it there, but I also own an iPhone and there’s of course an app for that as well. Yes 3Banana is on the iPhone as well. Therefore, when I make a note online, on the iPhone or of course my trusty HTC Hero, I can access anywhere.
With the latest version, you can scan QR codes, ad pictures to your notes, labels notes and export them to your SD card. Bottom line the app isn’t overly designed, in fact it’s largely white with black text. No worries that’s all you need. Is it the best note taking app out there? Not likely, but it’s practical and I use it. That’s all that matters.
