The BlackBerry Tablet

Intriguing to say the least

In a somewhat webOS-like operating system, BlackBerry is pinning its hopes on a new 7 inch tablet.  Capable of 1080p HDMI video, it will sport both USB and HDMI (missing from iPad and Android tablets to date).

Called the Playbook, RIM is targeting this new device as quite a few things.  An e-reader, media device, pairing with current BlackBerry phones, document editing, dual cameras and more.  The tablet will house a 1GHz dual-core CPU with 1GB of ram.  Nothing to laugh at there.

Although RIM seems to be positioning this as a “professional” device.  We’re not actually clear on what that means, except they are not pursing the home media market…

More as we learn more.
